Atwater Village is for Lovers

So much drama for such a small village

- Atwater Village Newbie discusses the shutting down of the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council's online forum. Apparently, with the election coming up, someone made a posting that broke the forum's rules regarding etiquette and libel. Or something. Why the postings were not simply removed instead of the entire forum shut down, I don't understand.

Very I'm-taking-my-ball-and-going-home, if you ask me.

Election update

In case you haven't looked up and seen one of the million lamp post signs adorning our beautiful nabe, the Atwater Village Neighborhood Council elections will be held on Saturday, October 6th.

All eligible stakeholders are required to cast their ballot in person on October 6th at the voting site (Holy Trinity church, 3716 Boyce Avenue) between the hours of 9am to 4pm.

Hooray! Here's my candidate's statement:

I believe in supporting our local businesses, creating opportunity, nurturing the arts, involving our residents in the community, the beautification of our river, and making our neighborhood a leader in the green revolution.

If I am elected to represent Atwater Village’s North district, I will actively listen to the concerns of the community and do my best to act on them.

More than anything, I believe that we are all in this together, and by involving our residents and business-owners in the progress of our community, we will continue to help Atwater Village thrive.

And no, I'm not letting go of the Mr. Smith Goes to Washington stuff.

The Griffin

A Fairfax/3rd St blogger ventures east and visits The Griffin on Los Feliz, ...and likes it! (Great blog too; check out his other entries.)

I have to check this place out - it's not even a block from my house. With our trinity of the Roost, the Bigfoot Lodge, and now the Griffin - or, uh, quadrity, if we include the Tam O'Shanter - the pub crawl opportunities are fast expanding. Himself and I have much to celebrate these days, and it's great to have a couple places to choose from.
